Our Alumni Network
Your time at a UWC school or college or your participation in a UWC short course is just the beginning. The beauty and the strength of the UWC network is not just the allegiance alumni feel to their UWC school or college, but a sense of being part of a global “tribe” with the UWC values at its heart. Being part of the UWC community will shape and inform you for the rest of your life.
Whether it’s at university, while traveling, when you move to a city or in your workplace, you will meet members of the UWC community wherever you go. And the best thing is that UWC alumni are always there to support each other, whether you need career advice, need a couch to sleep on for a night, or are looking for collaborators to start a project with, there is always someone willing to help - or someone who knows someone.
The Swedish Alumni Network
UWC Sverige manages and supports the Swedish alumni network which consists of our current scholarship holders and alumni, as well as other countries' UWC alumni who happen to be in Sweden or have moved here. Our main gathering place is the Facebook group UWC Sverige - Alumni. If you are a UWC alumni living in Sweden, please consider joining us there!
There are also more local Facebook groups that may be of interest, such as UWC Skåne/UWC Sweden South for those living in the southern parts of the country, or the group UWC Stockholm.
Alumni Meetups
Through these FB-groups, alumni events are organized throughout the year all over the country. At these events you can meet and get to know other UWCers living in your area. It usually involves meeting at places such as a restaurant, a park or an outdoor movie theater. Do you want to organize an alumni event where you live? All you have to do is post in one of the groups above.
One of the more special alumni events is our annual summer gathering (Orientation Weekend / Sommarträff) where the newly selected Swedish UWCers are invited to meet other UWCers for the first time and prepare for their two years. All alumni are welcome! The next summer gathering is going to be held just outside of Stockholm during 14-16th June, 2024.
UWC Sverige needs your help
In addition to organizing alumni meetups, the groups are also used to inform you when UWC Sverige needs your help in arranging the summer reunion or the interviews during the selection process, among other things. Without the help of alumni giving back, UWC Sverige would not be able to continue.
Other posts and questions
The groups can of course also be used for other types of posts and questions, for example if you are looking for a place to stay or if you are looking for information that you think other UWCers could provide.
Our internal contact list for Swedish alumni
Do you want to find the contact details of a Swedish UWC alumni? Register on our internal site and get access to an email address list of UWC alumni with a connection to Sweden. You are responsible for keeping your contact details up to date so that other alumni can get in touch with you in the future.
The International Alumni Network
The international alumni network is much larger and consists of over 40,000 UWC alumni spread all over the world. For many, it is invaluable, especially if you are planning to work abroad or just want to travel around the world and visit your friends from your old UWC school. We at UWC Sverige encourage alumni to stay in touch with both their college and schoolmates after graduation.
We recommend all UWC alumni to join the largest Facebook group UWC Alumni as well as the smaller, more regional alumni groups that are searchable based on your current place of residence.
