Apply For 2025-27 Entry

Study year 11 and 12 abroad at an international boarding school - with a full scholarship

The regular application period for 2025-2027 has now closed. Only students in the first or second year of high school (gymnasium) are eligible to apply for our scholarships. If you are applying for the academic years 2025-2027, you must be born between January 1, 2007 and September 1, 2009.

All aspects of the application should be completed or uploaded on our external application portal. The application portal is in English, but you may choose to write your answers in either English or Swedish. Please write in the language you are most comfortable with. Your choice of language will not affect your application.

The last date to submit an application and our deadline for all parts of the application is December 15th, 2024 at 23:59. For more information, see the Important dates page.

Below you can read a summary of the written application and what you need to complete.

Programme Eligibility & Personal Information

Here you should answer questions such as your date of birth, your contact information and other details we need to know to determine your eligibility and process your application.

Application Form

Here you should answer questions about yourself and reflect on the things you find important. Please answer in detail, as this will help us to get to know you and make a good assessment of your application.

Upload School Report/Transcript - Grade 9 / MYP4

You should upload a scanned copy of your final certificate from grade 9/MYP4/equivalent.

Upload a photo of yourself

You will need to upload a photo where your face is clearly visible. This photo will be used to identify you during the group assessment activities if your application is shortlisted.

Recommendation letters

You should invite two people who know you well to each write a letter of recommendation about you. Reference #1 should be from your head of class in Year 9, or a teacher who knows you well in high school (gymnasium). Reference #2 should be from any teacher or other adult who knows you well in an extra-curricular context, e.g. your mentor, coach, etc; it cannot be a relative or acquaintance. Please note that they should not share what they have written with you.

We reserve the right to contact your mentors/referees/class teachers/etc. to ask questions about the review/recommendation letter and if they think you would be a good fit for UWC.

If you want to help your referees write the best possible letters of recommendation, it is usually helpful if they know a little more about UWC. You can refer them to our FAQs for referees for information specifically aimed for them.

Your referees have up until the 29th of December to submit their recommendation letters, provided that you invited them before the 16th of December.

Parental approval

One of your parents or guardians must approve and sign your application for a UWC scholarship. We have a ready-made template they can fill out and sign online on our external application portal. Talk to your parents/guardians about what the UWC is and why you are applying! You will need their steady approval to receive the scholarship.

Application fee

The application fee is 200 SEK. Instructions for payment can be found on our external site. The money is used for the costs associated with the selection process (snacks, rental of premises, etc.). If you have difficulty paying the application fee, that's no problem. Everyone should be able to apply to the UWC. Reach out to us at ansokan@se.uwc.org to be exempted from the fee.
